“Australia - Crash Test Dummy of Renewable Energy” with Joanne Nova Free Online event for Friends of Science Society

Australia’s ‘crash test dummy’ foray into renewables comes under fire in Friends of Science Society’s 19th Annual Climate Science event theme of “NetZero + GreenGrid = The Great Regret.” Joanne Nova, popular Australian speaker, blogger, and science writer will explain “How to destroy a perfectly good electricity grid in one million expensive steps” in a FREE online event Monday, May 9, 2022, at 7 PM MDT (UTC-6 hours).

CALGARY, Australia (PRWEB) May 05, 2022

Australia made a big foray into renewables, but as reported by Reuters on April 13, 2022, citing a report by the Australian Energy Market Operator, Australia’s eastern states face black outs by 2025, if new capacity is not built to replace the Eraring coal plant. This push to shutter conventional, reliable, power plants is just one of the many energy complications that have made Australia the “Crash Test Dummy of Renewable Energy” says Joanne Nova. Nova will elaborate the bizarre policies and will show you ““How to destroy a perfectly good electricity grid in one million expensive steps” for Part Two of Friends of Science Society’s free, online event on the theme of “NetZero + GreenGrid = The Great Regret.” Nova’s presentation will be on Monday, May 9, 2022, at 7 PM MDT (UTC – 6 hours). Part One of the event featured Australian geologist Ian Plimer discussing “Climate Change: The past is the key to the present.” His presentation and PowerPoint are here.

As Nova explains in her presentation overview, “Despite having more coal and uranium per person than almost anywhere on Earth, Australia has still managed to make some of the most expensive electricity on the planet. Mostly thanks to a pagan quest to control the weather.”

“Find out what it takes to achieve state-wide blackouts, and a tripling of wholesale electricity prices in just five years. Laugh till you cry at the folly of a nation that controls just 1.5% of human emissions yet is trying to change the global weather by sacrificing a commodity which also happens to be its largest export earner,” writes Nova.

According to Joanne Nova, “the free market in Australia has been so distorted that national assets that took two generations to pay off are being closed even while they produce the lowest cost electricity available. And the crowds applaud! Here in Subsidy-World, coal plant owners profit more by shutting them down than by running them, so much so, when offered millions to sell the assets, the owners prefer to destroy them instead.”

Nova is ruthless in her assessment. “If wind and solar power were going to make it anywhere -- it would have to be in the only first-world sun-baked land that straddles the tropics. But free "clean" energy, turned out to a vandal on the clockwork efficiency of a national grid. We saved on fuel but spent more on land, batteries, storage, stability, maintenance, wages, management schemes, and transmission lines. We used to use electricity to run factories, now we use factories to run electricity grids. If we shut enough production lines, we can keep the lights on! It's such a circus that managing electricity even involves giving away movie tickets. We're planning for a thousand mini blackouts and calling it "progress".”

“For two years Australia installed more renewables per capita than anywhere on Earth. Since 1990 Australian emissions have been cut 46% per capita -- yet we're still called Global Pariahs, says Joanne Nova.

“NetZero + GreenGrid = The Great Regret” is the Friends of Science Society’s 19th Annual Climate Science event.
