A big win for Alberta

October 15th 2023
Today, we celebrate a monumental win.

The Supreme Court of Canada has ruled against the Trudeau Liberals' Bill C-69, deeming it unconstitutional.

This legislation, commonly referred to as the 'No More Pipelines Act' — or as I personally call it, the 'Don't Build Anything Anywhere Anytime Act' — has cost our country tens of billions in investments and the loss of thousands of jobs.

Thankfully, with today's decision, we can finally stop the bleeding and begin the process of bringing those investments and jobs back.

This also marks a major victory for provincial rights as defined in Canada's Constitution.

The Trudeau government has aimed to diminish provincial rights, first with Bill C-69 and now with their new electricity and oil and gas emissions proposals.

This ruling strengthens Alberta's position as we continue to fight back against federal intrusion into our sovereign provincial jurisdiction.

We urge the Trudeau government to take this ruling to heart. It's a clarion call for them to reevaluate their stance and collaborate genuinely with provinces like Alberta.

The journey in arriving at today's decision has been long, but together we've reached a crucial point. United Conservative supporters like you are at the heart of this triumph and for that I thank you.

However, the battle is not over. Federal Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault believes he can simply amend the law and maintain its detrimental effects. Rest assured, we will not stand by and let that happen.

To effectively push back against the Trudeau Liberals in Ottawa, we need your continued support. Please consider chipping in with a $15 donation today, helping us stay on the offensive.

With your continued support, we will keep steering Alberta towards an even brighter future.

Sincerely,

Danielle Smith
Leader of the United Conservative Party
